Without forgiveness of sins, there can be no peace in our relationship with God, and when there is no peace with God, we will have no peace. If you are finding peace elusive, either you still don't believe you are forgiven or you don't really care that you are. If you know that sin is your most profound problem, more critical than anything else that worries you, you will now resolute peace.

You see the mountain you committed yourself to climb and it seems utterly impossible. You can't imagine how you will get to the top. But when you get to the base, you keep your eyes on the trial. When you are thinking about your next step, the trip isn't as hard as you thought. That's what we are aiming for. Like a person with a lamp in the night, we are looking at the light on the next step rather than the darkness around us. We honor God when we believe what he says. He says that He will worry about tomorrow-He cares for us-so we can focus on the work of the kingdom now. Manna will be there when we need it. Right now there is work to be done.

Abraham was even willing to sacrifice his own son in obedience to God. He was certain that if God chose to take Isaac, He would surely raise him from the dead. The future was just barely out of plain view, but for Abraham the promises of God filled in the details he couldn't see. And when you know the end of the story, there is nothing to fear.
